The Steals & Deals of Black Friday

Danny and I did it . . .

We could probably be borderline crazy . . .

Had you been outside Target staring with disbelief at the masses of people wrapped around the building at 5:30 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving, you would have found us in line.

Found us if you could have spotted us in the crowd as everyone shifted impatiently, that is. We joined all of the moms who were waiting to crash through those automatic doors and plow down anyone who tried to get in their way of buying the newest Star Wars transformers or that portable dvd players. (I polled the crowd and eavesdropped while we waited for the store to open, and those two items were by far the most coveted.)

Yup we were official Black Friday junkies. We dashed in and grabbed everything we could hold, swatting people away with our swinging elbows - football style. No one was going to get in between me and a sale.

Well, we didn't really get physical, but we did get what we went for.

You can see here that I got another season of my beloved, "Gilmore Girls." We also stood in line for an hour and a half at Circuit City for free dvd-rs (after rebates, of course). Yes, an hour and a half. There were only three registers open and by the time we crawled out of there we were best friends with the lady ahead of us. Danny knew her life story (which included camping in Europe on a seven-month honeymoon and adopting two girls from China) and had her husband's name and phone number. Just in case we ever wanted to go to dinner with them. We might need to go just to talk about the trauma of waiting an hour and a half for the line to move 25 feet at Circuit City with someone else who was there.

We saved all of $30 in that hour an a half. That's like earning $20 an hour. I have to justify this crazines somehow, because my back and feet weren't feeling like the steals and deals were worth it.

Danny purchased a new Garmin eTrex CX GPS unit with his birthday money. Surprisingly there were no lines at Dick's Sporting Goods. He now tracks where we drive, stops and marks points at church, gas stations, friends' houses and grocery stores, and practically runs off the road trying to read the little map while he's driving. It's really just an expensive toy for a new game we've discovered called Geo-Caching.

Believe me, we got up before the sun to buy other cool things, but we're planning on giving those out as Christmas presents - so it wouldn't be too smart to flaunt them here online. You'll just have to use your imagination.

I spent the rest of Black Friday falling asleep watching Gilmore girls while Danny fiddled with the software for his GPS unit on the computer. When the wee hours of the morning are so productive, I don't think you should have to do anything else for the rest of the day!

Zach got a Garmin eTrex for Christmas last year so I know all about the running off the road tracking where we are. Boys and their toys. We laugh at all the toys he has bought since we got married. His current toy is a plane he bought with a buddy. Sounds like yall had fun I chose to sleep in! Love yall,
Autumn
