Precious, precious nap times

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug
Some days I live for nap time. Is it nap time yet? 9:50 am. Nope. Okay. I can survive a few more hours.

Is it nap time yet? 10:35 am. Wow. Still not lunch or nap time. How is this day is so long? I didn't realize two boys could fly through 972 activities in 45 minutes. All while completely emptying the bookshelves onto the living room floor.

What about now? Only 11:02. Okay. Is it too early for lunch? Is it considered an "afternoon nap" if I put them to bed before noon?

1:00 pm?! FINALLY! It's nap time. Sweep all these boys into bed and then collapse on the floor. Cason needs to go potty. Ok. Retuck the boys back into bed. Fall on to the couch. Cannon needs a drink. Ok. Maybe third time's a charm. I peek in on them before hopping into the shower.

Aw, they look so cute. So, I spend my precious nap time snapping photos of the very faces I was wanting a break from earlier. Such is my life as a mom.

Pompadour Boys

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug
A trip to see James at Plano Barbers and just like that two shaggy-headed boys are now the Pompadour Brothers. As much as I loved those long locks, I was getting tired of combing hair and they were two sweaty headed boys as the weather has warmed up. We decided it was time for a new look.

A Saturday Morning Run & Photoshoot

Saturday morning runs are MY TIME. Did you read that? My time. It's my chance to get out of the house and run . . . alone . . . footloose and fancy free.

Well, of course, on this Saturday, both of the big boys were up and awake and begging to go with me. Daddy and Colt were still asleep, so I loaded them up in the double stroller, grabbed my camera and set out on a route I knew had some prime photography spots. If I was going to up with the sun and pushing over 120 lbs of children and stroller then I was going to commemorate it with some photographs.

They look all sweet and innocent, until Cannon decides to WHACK Cason with Blue Bunny or until Cason decides that JUMPING up and down would make for a better photo than simply standing in a field of flowers.

Carpenter Cason

The boys are at this fabulous age where they love dressing up (or dressing down) and accessorizing (as much as boys can accessorize with hats and glasses). Their imaginations are wild and any item can be anything they want it to be. I'm learning to stop fighting the discarding of clothes. That no child was ever ruined by running around half dressed all summer long, but that every child is encouraged when free and creative play are encouraged and embraced.

Dust Bustin' Jumper

Remember a month ago when Cason decided to sweep the trampoline? Well it's a new month and Cason had new aspirations. Sweeping wasn't sufficient, he needed to dust bust those leaves off the trampoline. But then he discovered that the dust buster has buttons! And parts disassemble! What fun for a two year old! Serves me right trying to nurse an infant or talk on the phone for more than two minutes.

So what's a mom to do other than try to laugh and take pictures of the mess.

Just another day

This is a random photo dump from one of our spring days.

Colt has been joining us at the table for meals, practicing sitting in his booster seat in preparation for eating his own food one day soon. He LOVES his new vantage point and that he has two brothers ready to pick up every single toy he drops on the floor.
This is the daily scene in our house. I put Colt in the bouncer on the counter/table to keep him safe from smothering big brothers. Well, Cason is not to be deterred in showering Colt with affection. His determination combined with his fearless ability to scale any height finds him on top of my counter/table more days than naught. And yes, Colt was lovingly smooshed in the photo below. I swooped in to intervene instantly. It really is a wonder subsequent children survive in any family.
One last photo from our day: This is Cason's face when he realizes he's been caught drinking from the faucet yet again.

Turtle See, Turtle Do

Cason does EVERYTHING he sees Cannon doing. He repeats Cannon's words and follows him around like a little shadow. So, studying the little ninja turtle package insert is just the next step to Cason becoming as awesome as he thinks Cannon is.

Good Clean Fun

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug
Every couple of days we sweep the leaves and debris off the trampoline, because who likes to jump on dried leaves and little berries. Well, apparently Cason has decided to incorporate the broom into his trampoline routine.
