What a difference two years makes . . .

Cannon's actual birthday was the day AFTER his party and we wanted to do a little something to commemorate the day. So cinnamon rolls (and eggs) for breakfast it was! And we had to blow out the candle just one more time.

Then, I wanted to do what I always want to do on special days: TAKE MORE PICTURES!

How did we go so quickly from this to this?

Happy 2nd Birthday Cannon!

Cannon turned TWO! I can't believe it's been two full years since I first met those big brown eyes. 

We started the morning with opening his new t-ball set from Mama & Dada. He wanted to play IMMEDIATELY. And, considering he's been playing with makeshift equipment (think paper towel tubes and drum sticks), he did pretty good with a real bat and ball.

Next up was his birthday party at the park with family and his friend, Jack. 

We at all things baseball: Cracker Jacks, sunflower seeds (which Cannon tried to eat - shell & all), peanuts, watermelon, hot dogs and cheetos.

Cannon's favorite were the baseball cookies, which he still talks about to this day. 

Cannon's second favorite thing, next to baseball, is all things trucks. So, his party was the perfect trifecta since the park was adjacent to a construction site, complete with dump trucks and diggers hauling dirt back and forth. The boys would pause the baseball game to watch the construction trucks drive by. And then when they were tired of baseball they played in the dirt with Cannon's new toy trucks. 

We had so much fun celebrate Cannon's little life with family and friends!

The Activity Board

 

I've gotten quite a few questions about Cannon's "activity board" that Danny made for his first birthday and realized I'd never blogged about it.

I got the idea while scanning Pinterest (go figure) and thought it would be a GREAT gift for Cannon's birthday. I knew there just wasn't a "toy" to be bought at a store that would suffice for our first son's first birthday. So, Danny consented to doing the legwork and off to Home Depot we went one date night to find the perfect, fiddly gadgets.

One day it's going to be mounted on the wall in the activity corner, but for now Cannon's content to play on the floor. He has plenty of time to grow into most of the gadgets, but he's still intrigued by things that spin, open, make noise and of course go "BOING!" (He could play with door stoppers all day long.) It makes for quite the conversation piece between Cannon and his little friends when they come over to play.

We got some great family photos while Danny's family was in town and my family was at the house for Cannon's birthday. And, while Cannon doesn't look terribly excited, he actually had a blast being the center of attention.

Cannon Turns ONE!

Much thanks goes out to our trusty photographer friend, Wade, for capturing all the little moments of Cannon's first birthday. Danny and I got to enjoy the friends and soak up time with our friends without worrying about taking pictures.

Little friends came to celebrate and helped Cannon test drive his new Radio Flyer Wagon.

Big friends (or Uncles in this picture) came and played corn hole and washers in the backyard.

Cannon wasn't wild about his cake. In fact, he threatened tears when we kept putting icing on his lips. Guess I can't complain if my child won't eat sugar.
