Dallas Date Night #13 - Summer Salsa in Addison

Danny and I are rarely bored.

Credit it to my mother always telling me, "Don't say you're bored. You have a mind. Use it. You're not using your mind if you're bored. There's always something to do."

Or credit it to the fact that my husband has an overly-active creative streak.

Either way, I can never remember sitting down on the couch, looking at Danny and saying, "We have nothing to do. We are so bored."

No, usually we sit down on the couch because if we don't rest we'll collapse. Usually we sit down on the couch because we've had such a long day the only thing we are physically capable of doing is switching the channel to "King of Queens." Usually we have to beg each other to sit still for a moment on the couch and cuddle.

I also credit our lack of boredom to the plethora of activities in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, especially in the summer. We could be somewhere, watching a performance, enjoying the outdoors, and eating great food every night of the week in this city. There are more activities on my calendar that I "hope" we'll get to than we actually have time to do!

One of those events that we actually enjoyed was Summer Salsa in Addison, Texas.

Unfortunately, we showed up too late to get a spot on the dancing green for the first hour of salsa lessons, but the evening was still a success.

We managed to squeeze our picnic blanket on a little green patch in the back.

And while we munched on our sushi, we watched couples dancing all over the place. Some stumbled over their feet while learning salsa for the first time, and then we saw couples like this, who danced seemlessly together like they were made for each other.

Danny planned some amazing questions that spurred us into deep conversation that lasted through the sunset and until the stars came out. We spent several hours enjoying the outdoors, surrounded by families and live music, and reconnecting after a wearisome semester and summer.

Summer Salsa is already on my calendar for next year, and it's been upgraded from a "hope we'll get to event" to a "we must be there" activity.

Man, gatherings at The Circ are consistently one of the top three events in my week.

And don't worry, you still have three more Symphonic Saturdays to hit up before this summer's series of fun ends. Same time, same place, different music.
