Biking with Jenna

Right now it's freezing and raining outside, and all day I've been waiting for this "winter storm" that's suppose to hit Dallas.

I've lived here 22 of my 27 years of life, and I can tell you as a "seasoned" Texan that "that" storm isn't coming.

The last time it was the cold it was the week of Christmas. Only that time it was sunny and freezing. Classic Texas.

And what happens? Jenna text messages me and says "Wanna go for a bike ride today?"

I was grocery shopping and stopped my cart to read the message three times.

"Does she know how cold it is outside?"

And then, I remembered that she's from Iowa, and they practically live in igloos up there.

So Danny and I bundled up and met Joey and Jenna at the Katy Trail.

You can see here, proof that I am a Texan and Jenna is a Iowan. She has a t-shirt, a long-sleeve t-shirt, and a vest on.

I am wearing long underwear, a t-shirt, a sweatshirt, a heavy jacket, gloves, and earmuffs UNDER my helmet. I am a wimp, but I must argue that riding a bike in 30 degree weather has a windchill factor making it feel more like 15 degrees.

We rode all seven miles of the Katy Trail chattering and talking the entire way, until we decided that the Starbucks up the road was calling our name. We thawed out there, where Danny and I received super-duper-trooper-I-survived-the-coldest-day-in-Texas-while-riding-a-bike award.

But only because we have friends cool enough to challenge us to such crazy-fun atrocities!

Riding one's bike when the temperature is hovering around freezing is invigorating. That was a good times ride...we'll have to do it again sometime when it's not quite so cold. :)
