Valentine's Day - Weekend to Remember

Danny and I did something last month that we've never done before.

We had TWO quarterly reviews in two weeks.

We had the privilege of attending Family Life's Weekend to Remember for free as DTS students/spouses over Valentine's Day weekend. So, even though our Austin Quarterly Review had already been on the calendar for weeks, we decided we'd just do marriage overload and see if we could handle each other for two FULL weekends in a row.

Long-time readers will remember that we attended this marriage conference two years ago in Charlotte, NC. So, we felt free to skip a few sessions just to spend time together. I'm not going to repeat the sessions/discussion, because the material has not changed much. So, if you're interested in reading the topics covered at the Family Life Weekend to Remember, click here.

And, just for the record, Dennis Rainey is just an older version of Andy Barnard!

Valentine's weekend started on Friday, when Danny showed up at my work with this:

A red velvet cupcake from Sprinkles. I ate the whole thing by myself - Jenna would be so proud of my sugar intake.

Then, Friday night we were off to the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine for a little marriage conferencing.

In between sessions, we walked off our guilt on paying WAY too much for a coffee and muffin (there are absolutley NO food/eating options at the Gaylord other than their own overly-priced cafes) by enjoying the indoor reconstruction of the Alamo, the Riverwalk and other San Antonio landmarks.
Danny took a picture of us from all sides (right and left profile, the view from below, and the view from the top) while waiting for an afternoon session to start, and I liked this one the best (because every girl knows you don't take pictures with a view up your nose).

After the Saturday sessions at the Gaylord, Family Life instructed every couple to go on a date night. OKAY! We I don't have a problem with that homework.

Since it was Valentine's Day and restaurants were reaching their fire-code limit for number of people they could stuff in the building, we opted for the Maggiano's Three-Course Valentine's Carry-Out Special.

It did not disappoint. And the quiet, candelight atmosphere of our own apartment could not have been beat anywhere in the Dallas Metroplex.

I know this is an ugly picture of our bruschetta, caesar salad, chicken piccata, chicken and alfredo, beef tenderloin, cheesecake and tiramasu (is your mouth watering yet), but I was too busy eating after this point in the dinner.

This Valentine's Day might just go down in the book of "Winners and Repeaters - The Best of Stiller Date Nights and Holidays."
