Our Family This Month (June 2012)

This summer has been a whirlwind (in case you can't tell on this post that's 21 days late!).

The boys and I had some fun play dates (walking with Rachel & Ella; meeting an Aggie blog friend, Leslie, and her sweet family at the mall; and visiting the Dallas Museum of Art with Kristin and Jack) this month. We started running earlier in the morning (before eating breakfast) thanks to the hot June temperatures. It's become a nice little routine to wake up, nurse Cason, give Cannon a cup of milk and a snack trapper full of Cheerios and run to the park.

Seven local moms and I coordinated a "Toddler Summer Camp" that started up in June. We are learning about the five senses, and twice a month we're getting together for books, songs and activities. The kids are a little young, our time together mildly chaotic, but it's fun to see the toddlers learn and interact.

Our big activity this month was our trip to New YorkWe flew out to New York to visit Danny's family and had a blast. We stayed with Nan & Poppi (Danny's grandparents) and Cason got to meet his great-grandparents for the first time. We enjoyed an afternoon at the beach where Cannon spent almost the entire time in the beach chair because he couldn't brush off the sand fast enough. Central Park and the New York subway was our second adventure where we introduced Cannon to Sabrett hot dogs and the city splashpad. And we wrapped up the trip with brunch on a yacht with a fabulous view of Manhattan in celebration of Father's Day and Poppi's birthday. The boys did surprisingly well on the plane rides. We were well armed with snacks, ipod apps, and Signing Time dvds, although I'm not sure I ever fully relaxed in anticipation of the next melt down. It was a whirlwind trip, but we're so glad we got to visit with family.
