Impact Weekend 2007
Twelve 9th/10th grade girls, tons of junk food, nail polish, one i-pod for dance parties, Bible studies and caffeine equal one exciting weekend for Laura.
Nineteen 9th/10th grade boys, tons of junk food, PS2, Bible Studies, and one run-in with the neighborhood security guards equals one crazy weekend for Danny.
Thankfully all of this excitement and craziness happened in two different houses!
Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of Danny and Kyle and their rowdy group of boys, but I do have some very fun pictures of my girls.
Amanda and I were "in charge" of the 9th/10th grade girls together.
However, Danny did beat me in getting less sleep. I hit the sack at 2 a.m. and he made it all the way to 3 a.m. or later. You know you're getting old when your body shuts down at midnight. Here's Danny and I after a sleepless weekend.
The theme for the weekend was Connect. We talked with the kids about connecting with friends, connecting with God, connecting with parents and connecting with church. I was greatly encouraged by the prayer time we had with the girls the very first night. On Saturday both groups particpated in a service project. Danny's group played bingo at a nursing home, while my group cleaned and organized at Heartworks, an inner city ministry in Columbia. On Sunday all the Impact Weekend groups had one big Sunday School and then we sat together during the worship service. We all wore our Impact Weekend t-shirts and looked like one big black blob in the congregation.

P.S. Oh, and that run-in with the security guards. Apparently some boys thought it would be fun, instead of playing manhunt (the big boy version of hide-n-seek) to ring doorbells and run.
