Poor Little Jeep
It all started in 2002 with a little, two-door, maroon Jeep Cherokee.
The Darmoth Dolls christened her "Jawana."
As in, "Jawana ride in the Jeep?" Hehe, we were a clever bunch of roommates.
Almost every weekend we squeezed Bonneisha, Tyshekia, Shay, Vynteska, and Ieschia into that two door Jeep (it took a little prodding and pushing to get in and out) for trips to get ice cream, do hair, or sleep over.
Jawana helped me get my first ever speeding ticket on Munson Road in College Station, Texas.
And then it happened. Jawana rudely rear-ended another car. Her bumper was pushed in and her radiator was punctured. We had to put her down and say "Goodbye." It was a sad, sad day.
But then, Janita showed up.
As in, "Janita ride in the Jeep?"
She was green and shiny. She had four doors and Bonneisha, Tyshekia, Shay, Vynteska, and Ieschia thought that was awesome. She had a little trouble starting and shifting gears, but so long as you didn't idle too long she was a dream.
Until the transmission fell out. She had been sick from the start. After a mere three months we had to return her.
And, so, finally we went to Mr. Huffines dealership and found "The Jeep."
This would be the third Jeep in three months. TruLife kids couldn't wait to see what color car I would drive up in next. They were convinced I just kept painting the same car to tryout difference colors.
We had run out of clever "J" names, and so we simply called her, "The Jeep."
She was blue and had shiny, shiny rims (hubcaps).
She finished out my years at Texas A&M. She survived more TruLife kids than any of her predecesors. She never got a speeding ticket. She guzzled gas, but always started and never stalled. She avoided rear-ending other people's bumpers, but, unfortunately, forgot to avoid being rear-ended.
Last week a careless Columbia driver plowed right into The Jeep. They didn't even bother to brake, but just ran right into us, while we were stopped, waiting to turn left on a two-way road.
The Jeep felt like it lifted right off the ground. Fortunately for us, The Jeep is strong. So strong that it had the firemen asking the make and model so he could buy one for his daughter.
The other car was demolished, but The Jeep was just a little dented. You can see the damage here below:
The Jeep is currently in the shop getting a face lift and a tune-up. She should return shortly to run good as new. Thankfully for now, we won't have to get a new color Jeep or come up with a new name. The Jeep should be back in service before the week is out!
Thanks to everyone who prayed for my safetly and quick recovery (I walked away with a sore/stiff back and neck) and for all the girls at Bible study who ran out and comforted me before the police even got there. It's great to be surrounded by friends.
