Progressing Scavenger Dinner

The last year Danny and I had the priviledge of leading a discipleship group for six 9th graders at Shandon Baptist Church. Every Sunday evening we would meet with Jamie, Nick, Will, Craig, Shayna, and Katherine at the Butler's home. Each week the students were responsible for completely 3-5 quiet times, memorizing a Bible verse, and finishing their Cross Training lesson.

Well, Cross Training has come to and end, and to celebrate and hear all 12 of the verses the kids had memorized this semester, we took them on a Progressive Dinner/Scavenger Hunt. We gave them a clue to each place where they were going to go to get one of sic courses for lunch. Then, at each course they said two of their memory verses to us. Below are the clues that Danny wrote for each stop. Some of them are restaurants, some of them are people/places that were specific to our Cross Training group. Can you guess any of them? The answers are below.

Clue #1
This first stop will be super fast.
We'll drive right in to wet our whistles.
And after the verse's we'll get on the road.
Where "R" we going?!

From left to right: Will, Jamie, Nick, Craig, & Danny

Clue #2
Take a chill pill and enjoy your drinks.
On the next stop we'll mix something corny with something spicy.
If you want to we might even kick back in the ranch & chill out some more.

Clue #3
We are taking a trip down memory lane.
We have many memories to share from this place.
Ginger Ale & Diet Coke.
I like mine served by a maid or a butler.
They are waiting to hear your next two verses.
Left to Right: Laura, Shayna, & Katherine

Clue #4
Mexican food is good.
Do you want some mo'?
Only three more stops until we're finished,
But at this next stop we'll learn something from the guy who knows how to wrap it up.

Clue #5
South Carolina weather is really nice.
It never gets too frosty.
I know this girl who can get us dessert.
She's got two pig tails and isn't bossy.

Clockwise, from Bottom Left:
Jamie, Will, Craig, Mr. Butler, Will, Katherine, Shayna, & Mrs. Butler

Clue #6
Last stop on our route.
It's the big cheese, the boss, the YM at the top of the Peak.
He's waiting for you, for your verses to speak.

And, that my friend, was a Sunday afternoon filled with lots of eating, reciting God's Word, and driving around Columbia.
