Dad's Baseball Birthday
My Dad has few passions in life - his family, computers, and baseball. Other interests have come and gone over the years, but those three things have been consistent through my childhood and now adult life.
So, when my Dad's birthday (or Father's day) roll around it's almost predictable that we'll be doing something with the family involving a ball and a bat and that he'll open a gift that can somehow be used on his computer.
This year was no exception - we all went to a Frisco Rough Rider's baseball game.
Look at us - my Mom is LOVING have all her grown children in the same state again!
Left to Right: Jonathan, Me, Danny, Dad, Matthew and Mandy.
Mom and the Birthday Boy:
Now, if you've never been to a Frisco Rough Rider's game, then you need to go. The entertainment in between innings is worth almost as much as the game.
Deuce, the Mascot, interacts with the crowd and the kids.
Tthe high school/college students dance to YMCA.
And you get to watch little kids from the crowd do super cute things, like stumble around the bases in a full-size uniform.
This is us right after we got our free light bulb during the 7th inning stretch.
And take note: Danny's haircuts will only get crazier over the next few blog post. In fact, I'll probably even dedicate a whole post just to the crazy things my husband does with his hair.
After we all turned pink from the afternoon in the sun, we headed back to the house to celebrate.
I do not think I'm at liberty to say how many candles were on Dad's cake - but I don't think there were enough to keep up with his current age.
There weren't so many that he couldn't get them out all in one blow.
Two of Dad's favorite things: coconut cake and comic strips.
Mom's homemade, made-from-scratch coconut cake, that she didn't eat any of because she can't stand coconut. She loves my Dad enough to slave over a homemade cake that she won't even taste - I like example of being a wife.
Jonathan gave Dad a baseball with all the stats from his Eastfield games. Of course Dad informed us that some stat was missing and Jonathan went running for the pen. (Dad studies Jonathan's baseball stats like medical students study for the MCAT - thoroughly and intensely without missing a detail.)
Happy Happy Late Birthday Dad - It's good to be back in Texas to sing to you in person and not over the phone.
