The Urban Life: Laundry Edition

I just thought I'd share a little peak into the every day whirlwind the Stillers call urban life in Dallas.

Today's edition: the laundromat.

I must give credit to Danny so that he can earn blog brownie points. Seventy-five percent of the time he's the one that takes the dirty clothes to the laundromat during the day so that we can spend quality time in the evening watching "King of Queens." And, even though he would much rather leave the bleach at home because he's been known to dribble it on his books, clothes and other things, he tugs it along because I like white whites!

We use to do our laundry in the washing machines at our apartment, but they were out of service (all three washers and all four dryers at once - imagine that!) for over two months, so we got in the habit of driving down the street to the laundromat.

We discovered that it's cheaper and faster to go to the laundromat. Only $50/wash instead of $1.25 and we can put all 4-5 loads in at once instead of having to do one after the other.

I'll leave you with some pictures while you try to figure out how on earth two people generate 4-5 loads of dirty laundry in one week. I'll give you two clues: lots of sweaty jogging shorts and tons of dusty UPS t-shirts.

You pay $50 to do a load of laundry? Is that something like 0/mpg? Hehehee.

hehe - yes, $50 for one load! In all fairness, instead of correcting my post I'll just make the correction here - otherwise Jenna's comment would make sense to no one. I meant to say it's only .50 (50 cents) to wash a load of laundry. It does not cost 50 dollars to wash a load here in the ghetto - maybe in Highland Park - but not on Gaston Ave.

Ha, I didn't even notice, I read it as .50 a load. Great pictures Laura, you're getting so creative with your camera, your kids are going to one day LOVE reading your blog, you must print it out and hard bound it once a year!

Hate it for you!!! We use to do the same thing, many, many, years ago. Then, when Mr. and Mrs. Harris moved in with us, we started going back to the laundry mat because of time. Doing laundry for 7 people was much quicker at the laundry mat.

Ahh..such memories! When Jon and I were younger and living together in sin, you know BC, instead of going to the laundry room in our apartment building, I would just go and buy new clothes! I'm not even kidding!!
I have since learned the error of my ways, and if I could afford it, I would haul my loads down to the fluff and fold and have them do it!
Oh and the last picture made me look twice because at first glance it looks like someone is in the dryer!
