We Now Live in a Cave

Remember this party? It was embarrassingly hot. So hot, that some of these girls might have secretly plotted never to return to the Stiller home. I wouldn't blame them.

You shouldn't have to sweat while drinking champagne.

Danny and I decided to take matters into our own hands, ghetto-style.

For under $40 we bought foam board at Michaels and foil at the grocery store. The idea was to create removable foil boards that we could put in or take out of our windows as we pleased.

We failed to account for the fact that our windows are not symmetrical. Meaning, our living room window is up to 1/4" smaller in height on one end. So, the boards that we had precisely cut at Michaels, well they were not so precise.

After carefully gluing and taping yards of foil down, Danny gently JAMMED each board into our four apartment windows. And, I quietly cried on the floor, surrounded by scraps of foil and tape.

We had effectively blocked all sunlight from our apartment and at the same time created quite a dark cave.

I LOVE SUNLIGHT and am sorely disappointed that it has to turn my apartment into an oven.

But, with all cool air comes a price. And, the fact that we've had to turn the A/C off the last few days for a few hours because we were so cold tells me that the foil is working.
