The "Reading" Park
I guess I should rename this blog still:chanel. Are you sick of hearing about this dog yet?
Well, because of Chanel I've discovered a new favorite Sunday afternoon activity: reading at the dog park. Shockingly, I like the dog park more than Chanel does.
Well, because of Chanel I've discovered a new favorite Sunday afternoon activity: reading at the dog park. Shockingly, I like the dog park more than Chanel does.
This is what happens when we go to the dog bark:
Chanel BOLTS out of the car and spins in circles because she's so excited to be out of our apartment.
See, her tongue hangs out in her sheer excitement.

We set up our camping chairs and unpack our books, while Chanel sniffs around.
Until a dog comes along to say "hello," and then she freezes.
And she doesn't make eye contact. She NEVER makes eye contact - as if by avoiding eye contact she is silently willing the other dogs to go away and stop sniffing her.
Finally, when she's had enough of playing the part of "frozen statue," she darts back to our chairs and assumes her position - the position she stays in for the remaining time at the dog park. (Remember, we come to this place with the intention of giving Chanel a chance to stretch her legs.)

Yup, my dog spends her "dog park time" sitting in our laps while we read. Other dogs come up and say "hello" to us, but Chanel keeps her gaze fixed on the horizon like some little princess dog that can't be bother to play with other dogs.
Other dogs race back and forth chasing tennis balls, while Chanel observes.

So, we don't go to the dog park like normal pet owners. No, we go to the reading park, where we take our anti-social dog so WE can get some fresh air and our dog can rest her legs on our laps.
