April 2011 Reading List

12. Baby-Led Weaning by Gill Rapley
A different perspective on baby food. After reading all of these strict rules on how to introduce new foods and how to puree and mash foods for baby, this was a refreshing read. It was basically a book on how to throw out the rules on introducing solid foods to your baby and how to skip pureed foods and simply feed your child from your plate.

13. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford
This was a book for book club.  It was a sweet little love story with intrigue and suspense.

14. Total Church by Tim Chester & Steve Timmis
There were things I loved about this book and parts I skimmed. There were paragraphs I underlined about what the church looks like, how your life should be sharing the Gospel every day, in everything you're doing.

It challenges readers to view their lives as missionaries - how would they approach life if they were going overseas to be missionaries - well, approach your life like that today.

We should be making decisions with regard to the implications of our decisions for the church. Now, that would make my life look different wouldn't it?!

Total Churches urges that we should not settle for a list of moral negatives (do not drink, do not cuss, etc.). We should be striving for one another's godliness- remind the grumbler that Christians are called to do everything without complaining (Phil. 2:14-15).

15. Baby Read-Aloud Basics - Caroline Blakemore & Barbara Weston Ramirez
I LOVE this book! This book is divided into age groups and for each age they talk about development that is occurring, book suggestions, and even suggestion conversations & questions to discuss with each book.

Sometimes I have trouble reading simple board books to Cannon simply because I don't know what to talk about - this book gave me tools and things to think about when reading and talking with Cannon. It gave GREAT examples of how to ask questions about illustrations and help your child follow the words and note the illustrations. I think this is a FABULOUS resource!
